Privacy Policy

Local Search Ally is operated by Chad Smith, a solo local SEO strategist based in Siloam Springs, AR. This policy explains what information I collect when you use this site, how I use it, and who I share it with.

1. What I collect

When you use Local Search Ally, I collect the following:

  • Contact information — your name, email address, and phone number, collected when you send me a message or book a call.
  • Business information — name, address, trade, and website URL, collected when you contact me or when I audit your business as part of my work for you.
  • Audit results — data I generate about a client business, including Google Business Profile signals, citation status, on-page SEO findings, review metrics, and AI visibility results.
  • Usage data — pages visited and time on site, collected via Google Analytics.
  • Session activity — on the public pages of this site only, a recording of how you moved through the page: clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement, collected via Microsoft Clarity. Text you type into forms is masked and is not captured. The client dashboard and the audit tool are not recorded.

2. How I use your information

  • To audit your local search presence and report the findings to you.
  • To carry out the work you've hired me to do.
  • To improve the site based on how people use it.
  • To respond to questions or support requests you send directly.

I don't sell your information. I don't rent it. I don't use it for advertising.

3. Third-party services

Running this service requires a few third-party tools. Each one handles data according to its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — database and authentication. Audit and scan data is stored here.
  • Resend — transactional email. Used to send reports and replies.
  • DataForSEO — SERP and local search data. Your business name and location are sent to their API to retrieve ranking data.
  • Google Gemini — AI queries. Your business name, trade, and city are sent to Gemini to check AI search visibility.
  • Google — PageSpeed Insights and Maps APIs, used for technical SEO and geo-grid ranking checks.
  • Google Analytics — site usage tracking. You can opt out via browser extensions.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recordings and heatmaps for the public pages, which I use to see where people get stuck. Microsoft may also use this data for its own purposes under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. It does not run on the dashboard or the audit tool.

4. Google API data

Local Search Ally connects to Google Business Profile via Google OAuth 2.0. The connection is authorized by the Google account that owns or manages the listing. This connection requests the business.manage scope, which provides read access to your Google Business Profile listing data.

What is accessed: Business name, address, phone number, website, hours, categories, photos, posts, customer reviews, and profile completeness data.

How it is used: Exclusively to display listing information inside the Local Search Ally dashboard, assess profile health, and generate local SEO recommendations. This data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising purposes.

What it does not do: Local Search Ally does not publish posts, modify your listing, respond to reviews, or make any changes to your Google Business Profile without your explicit action.

Retention: Google Business Profile data is retained only while your account is active and your Google connection is authorized. Disconnecting your Google account from the dashboard — or revoking access at myaccount.google.com/permissions — immediately stops data access. Data is deleted within 30 days of disconnection.

Local Search Ally's use of Google API data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Cookies

This site uses cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in) and analytics (Google Analytics). No advertising cookies are used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this will prevent you from staying logged in to the dashboard.

6. Data retention

Audit data and account information are retained as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, I'll delete your data within 30 days upon request. Email me at chad@localsearchally.com to request deletion.

7. Your rights

You can request a copy of the data I hold about you, ask me to correct anything that's inaccurate, or ask me to delete your account and associated data. Email me directly and I'll handle it personally.
